the complexity of legalization of cannabis

well holy fuck. im not sure what we just went through, but here we are. take time every day to focus on you and your mental health, because we still need everyone to stay involved to fight the deeply embedded systems of racism, sexism, cis-heteronormativity, ableism, and classism
i am finding inspiration in how well plant medicine did this season πΏπ₯°π
π³ legalized adult cannabis use: arizona, montana, new jersey, and south dakota
π³ south dakota and mississipi legalized medicinal cannabis
π oregon decriminalized all "hard drugs" and legalized psilocybin therapy
π dc decriminalized psychedelics.
something to keep in mind - the people making these legal policies overlook a lot of existing laws and rules that still criminalize cannabis use. the first thing we need to do is decriminalize the plants, release/provide support to those who were incarcerated for cannabis (or all drugs, but really abolish the incarceration system. its not about good vs bad ppl, its about communities in pain and healing), then move on to the legalization. FOR EXAMPLE. if you're a bipoc woman giving birth in colorado and your dr/nurses are racist (unfortunately an often occurrence), you can be racially profiled and a drug test can be administered without your knowledge. if your test comes back positive for cannabis, your baby can be taken away. yup in legal colorado π
